A smooth journey from daycare through to Year 10
Our Foundations for Learning
Our approach to learning is grounded in strong relationships, cultural responsiveness, and high expectations for every child. We believe that when students feel valued, connected, and confident, they thrive.
Across our Early Childhood Education Centre, Primary School, and Junior College (opening in 2027), we foster a love of learning through:
- Inclusive Practices – Celebrating diversity and ensuring all learners feel a sense of belonging.
- Quality Teaching – Using evidence-based approaches that support progress, creativity, and deep thinking.
- Strong Partnerships – Working closely with whānau and the wider community to support each learner’s journey.
- Future-Focused Learning – Equipping students with the skills, values, and mindset needed to succeed in an ever-changing world.
Our Chapel Downs Dispositions
We encourage our students to develop key dispositions that support lifelong learning and positive relationships. These include being:
- Investigators – curious and eager to explore new ideas
- Self-Managers – responsible and independent in their learning and actions
- Communicators – confident and clear in sharing their thoughts and listening to others
- Respectful – valuing themselves, others, and the environment
- Persevering – determined and resilient when facing challenges
- Team Work – collaborative and supportive in working with others
Honoring Te Tiriti o Waitangi
As a school, we value Māori culture and perspectives, embedding Te Reo Māori and tikanga Māori into our learning. We are committed to fostering a sense of belonging and success for all learners.
At Chapel Downs School, we are dedicated to Achieving Together—empowering every child to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
