Opening in 2027, Chapel Downs Junior College will begin by welcoming its first cohort of Year 7 students. The college will grow year by year, with one additional year level added annually. By 2030, it will be fully operational, catering to students from Years 7 to 10.

Chapel Downs Junior College will provide a dynamic, supportive environment that fosters independence, leadership, and personal responsibility. Senior students will be encouraged to develop their voice, take on meaningful leadership roles, and engage in rich learning experiences that prepare them for a smooth transition to senior college.

Our Curriculum

Our Years 7–10 curriculum is carefully crafted to bridge the important transition between primary and senior secondary education.

Students are provided with a strong academic foundation across a wide range of subjects, while also being encouraged to think critically, solve problems, and engage with ideas in meaningful ways.

Alongside core learning, there’s a strong emphasis on future-focused opportunities that help students explore their interests, develop new skills, and build confidence for the years ahead. The learning environment promotes high expectations, creativity, and student agency, allowing learners to take ownership of their progress and play an active role in shaping their educational journey.

With dedicated teachers, supportive relationships, and a commitment to innovation, every student is well-prepared not only for success in NCEA but also for the many pathways they may choose beyond school — whether that’s further study, training, or employment. The goal is to help shape adaptable, resilient, and motivated young people who are ready to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
