The Heart of Our School
Chapel Downs is a place of learning for life.
Located at 170 Dawson Road in Flat Bush, Auckland, our school has proudly served the local community since 1985. Established to meet the educational needs of a growing population, Chapel Downs has built a strong reputation for academic excellence, inclusive practices, and a warm, supportive learning environment.
Our diverse student community reflects the multicultural richness of Aotearoa, and we are committed to fostering both academic achievement and personal growth. We apply the best of educational practice, grounded in strong family values, to help every learner thrive. We now offer a continuous learning journey, beginning with our Early Learning Centre and extending through to Year 6. In 2027, we will proudly open the Chapel Downs Junior College, providing a seamless transition for students entering Years 7–10.
Striving for Excellence
We set high expectations for achievement and encourage every student to reach their full potential.
We provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students are challenged and inspired to excel.
Within the classroom, we offer both learning support and extension opportunities to cater to individual needs, ensuring every child is engaged and progressing. Beyond academics, we also celebrate sporting excellence, providing a range of opportunities for students to develop their skills, teamwork, and confidence.
Through dedication, encouragement, and a commitment to success, we empower our students to achieve their personal best in all areas of school life.
Weaving Te Ao Māori into Learning
We honour the unique place of Māori as tangata whenua and are committed to upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi—partnership, protection, and participation.
Exploring Aotearoa New Zealand’s history, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and our shared journey as Treaty partners is a vital part of our school culture. We actively weave Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori into our everyday learning, school events, and classroom practice, enabling all students to build a deeper understanding of te ao Māori.
Our commitment is visible in the relationships we build, the voices we value, and the ways we celebrate identity, language, and culture alongside our whānau and wider community.
This includes our vibrant kapa haka rōpū, school-wide Matariki celebrations, and meaningful classroom learning that reflects the stories, perspectives, and values of te ao Māori.
